Mardi Gras the Rhody Way

There are some places in this world that are completely random. Mardi Gras is definitely one of them.
I've been told this is one of those places people don't often go more than once, but I never really understood why. With 4 different "Clubs" within one larger building, It seems like there could be something for everyone. From a stage in Bourbon Street Rock House where live bands play every night, Johnny Bahamas with Sharks hanging from the ceiling, the Monkey Bar, and the Diamond Rodeo where one can get Line Dancing lessons every Thursday night, it certainly seems like they thought of everything. A good friend of mine's aquaintance just happened to be playing his first ever gig with his band there this week, so we tagged along for moral support. In the spirit, of trying new things, I was hesitant at first but thought at worst it would be something to say I've experienced.
With 3 story tall neon palm trees surrounding the building, it seemed as though it would fit in more on the Vegas Strip rather than across from the Warwick mall. Interesting to say the least. Entering the building was another experience. I thought with the way the mirrored ceilings reflected the crazy color scheme of each "club" actually fit in more with a Twisted room of mirrors one would find in a carnival.
The music on the other hand was actually pretty good. The band was fantastic with tons of energy for their first time and played fun twists on all of the 90's music we all grew up with. They even took the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" theme and turned it into a rock song reminiscent of Green Day. We were definitely impressed. The rest of the rooms had so-so music but nothing we couldn't enjoy. From 112 in Johnny Bahamas and Save a Horse Ride a cowboy in the Diamond Rodeo, people were singing and dancing to whatever floated their boat.
The experience was random at best but I'd go again- If only just to get one of those Line Dancing Lessons! Hmmm...I sense another item coming up on my To Do list. Join me! *Jasmine
